Don’t let your Posts haunt you in your job hunt.

To haunt

Be careful that what you write on social Media doesn’t come back to haunt you.

Gone are the days where social media was a tool that was used to communicate to your friends. Nowadays, people are using social media for a variety of reasons and for people who are out looking for that perfect job, social media could be a big negative that could come back to haunt you. Below is a quick look at some of the social media don’ts that one should consider when job hunting.

A lot of the times hiring managers are looking not to find out negatives about an individual, but they are also looking to see how you will fit into the overall culture of the company. Most hiring managers are looking for someone who is well rounded and it is a good idea to let your profile show that. On the flipside, if you feel that there are questionable posts on your social media account, it is a pretty good idea to check out your privacy settings. There are many different stories and case studies highlighting hiring managers stumbling across photos and other questionable content and using it as the basis for judging the individual. If you feel that your profile might have things that you might not want people to see, it is a good idea to ensure that the privacy settings are set properly.

As you can see it can be very easy for what you post on social media to have a negative impact on the dream job that you are looking for. If you followed some of the tips listed above, you should be able to reduce the possibility of social media having a negative affect on your chances of getting that dream job you have worked so hard for.
